I simply love the idea that Courtney and Angela had to start Good Morning Girls! I love the facebook group that I've joined with other women from all over the country. We keep each other accountable to having our own quiet times and trying to daily read scripture.
From now until March we are also looking at 2 verses in the book of James each day (5 days a week). Its a fantastic way to kick off the new year, by digging deeper into God's Word. Feel free to join us: gmg-winter-session-begins-today

Isaiah 43:18-19
A wonderful new person in our life shared this verse with me today and told me she will be praying it for me:
Isaiah 43:18-19
18 Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the desert
and streams in the wasteland.
I am so touched by her! Her heart for the Lord shines so bright and she has such a gift for encouraging! We are greatfl to know her and her family.

I will rejoice ...even today
1 Thessalonians 5:16
Rejoice always;
Oh boy! Have I repeated that verse over and over today. I will be honest here ... Its been a bad day at our house today. I wanted so badly to crawl in bed and just hide under covers. Several of us have summer colds, I think I'm coming down with mastitis, and the boys just had one of those days when they could not agree about anything ... and I mean every thing lead to an argument today. By the time my hubby got home I was fit to be tied, I wanted to run away (just for a little while of peace and quiet). But I was too tired and ache, so I just sat in my truck in the drive way, laid the seat back and closed my eyes while hubby fed the kids supper.
When I see verses like these I am reminded that we are to rejoice in the Lord, not when we feel like or when things are going well ... we are just simply to rejoice in the Lord, always. No matter the circumstnaces, no matter the feelings ... those do not affect our salvation after all and they don't change our great God. So even when I'm sitting in a clinic waiting room or listening to children argue I will rejoice. I serve a great and awsome God!!!
Isaiah 29:19
Once more the humble will rejoice in the LORD;
the needy will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
Luke 10:20 (New International Version)
However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."
Ecclesiastes 11:8
Indeed, if a man should live many years, let him rejoice in them all, and let him remember the days of darkness, for they will be many. Everything that is to come will be futility.
Philippeans 2:17-18
17But even if I am being (AM)poured out as a drink offering upon (AN)the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all.
18You too, I urge you, rejoice in the same way and share your joy with me.

“The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.” ~ Psalm 28:7 (ESV)
How appropriate for my day ... I'm packing up to leave for the hospital to have our baby girl! She is almost here ...we can't wait to hold and snuggle her!!!
Give thanks with us on her Birth Day! Here is a verse the Lord gave me for her when I was 26 weeks along:
David's Psalm of Thanks
7 That day David first committed to
Asaph and his associates this psalm
of thanks to the LORD:
8 Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name;
make known among the nations what he has done.
9 Sing to him, sing praise to him;
tell of all his wonderful acts.
10 Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
11 Look to the LORD and his strength;
seek his face always.
12 Remember the wonders he has done,
his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,
1 Chronicles 16:7-12

An email devotional I recieved today
Today's Prayer
I praise You Lord, for Who You are; the Alpha, Omega, Beginning and the End, Savior and Lord, You're my best friend; Creator of all. Thank You for being my best friend forever. Thank You for being my heavenly Father, always present and always there for me. Thank You for being my sustainer and protector. And thank You for saving me and setting me upon the solid Rock--Jesus. In His name I pray. Amen.

Know Your Armor
TGIF Today God Is First Volume 2, by Os Hillman
05-10-2008
"David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them. 'I cannot go in these,' he said to Saul, 'because I am not used to them.' So he took them off." (1 Samuel 17:39).
David, the young shepherd boy, heard the challenge from the Philistines to send someone to fight Goliath. No one volunteered to fight except David. King Saul reluctantly agreed and offered David his armor. David put on the weighty equipment, but quickly concluded he could not fight in this heavy armor. He gave it back to thing Saul.
God equips each of us in such a way that is unique to our strengths and abilities. David knew who he was and who he wasn't. David was trained as a shepherd to use another weapon. For David, it was a slingshot. David showed great maturity in realizing he could not be effective with Saul's armor.
What are the gifts and talents God has given to you? Have you ever tried to accomplish a task with tools you were not trained to use? God allows each of us to develop skills that are unique to our life. He will not call you to use someone else's tools.
However, this is only half of the equation. These talents must be mixed with faith. Talent alone is not enough. Faith alone is not enough. It is only when the two are combined that God's power is released and manifested in the physical realm.
Sometimes we admire the talents of others and seek to emulate them. The temptation arises to be someone we are not. This is a mistake. Let God live His life through the unique you.
Then, mix your unique gifts with faith today; you will be surprised at the power of God that will be manifested.
